It's a Block Party!

Finally time for my first Studio Calico big reveal! The build up has been intense - especially with Christmas thrown in as well! I really loved my first kit, BLOCK PARTY and had lots of fun mixing it up with the add-ons:   Pollard Ave, Pioneer Dve and Woodbrooke Rd.

Can you tell how much fun I had?? Eight layouts in total! Pretty much a record for me during the silly season! Being very new to Studio Calico I must say that I loved the printables. I had always steered away from this type of thing. But they are very easy to use and extremely versatile. I simply printed them onto matte photo paper and I hand cut most of them that you see on pages. Simple enough? I have ordered myself a silhouette cameo bundle and some of my fellow DT members reliably inform me that it will cut out the printables precisely - and then I'll be able to use the cut-out files available too! I have also used the digital brushes this month. I have printed some on photos and used some as embellishments..The shipping tags you see on a few of my layouts are new to the SC shop too and I love them - go get your hands on them while you can! I need more colours I think!

Stay tuned I'll let you know how I go next month after I actually get my hands on my cameo!

Thanks for looking!

Tis the season:

to scrap all things Christmas.. I had a play with December's Studio Calico kit 34th Street.. I also got the add-on Murray Hill and I really had a boom when I played with this kit.. I pumped out these four layouts in two afternoons. There is one layout that isn't Christmas related..For the Chrissy layout I used photos I had left over from my December Daily album - which I still have been working on and will share before the 25th - I promise:

I seriously loved the silver glitter pack in the main kit..I have used it on three out of the four layouts..I love the printables from the 25 days class too.. ( peace and Joy and happy holidays tag) ..
Perfect for Christmas..I didn't get the Christmas inspired add-on kris kringle but I quite like making themed layouts work in different colour schemes??

What do you think?

Stuck in Dec:

I really meant to make my Dec layouts for Stuck to be Christmas inspired..But I am sorry to say - yhis year it just didn't happen. Oddly enough, I have scrapped all of last years xmas photos andI didn't have any ready to go in Nov this year. I did kinda create it with Christmas colours??

A bit of stamping and misting which I was working with alot back in Nov. Dec brings extra responsibility tho..And for me that equates to less fuss with backgrounds!! hehe! As usual alot of stuff that is old..But there is some new product on here too.. Some Studio Calico roller rink kit products including puffy stickers.. And the vellum thought bubble..Which is totally COOL...

Plus the photo.. My darling boy..In his handmade "R" shirt.. Thanks to his fab Aunt Cindy who cleverly created this for his birthday.. We LOVE it..

Bye for now..
Remember that exciting news?
Only  days away now...
Ready to share...

December Daily..ish...

Everyone is doing it..Aren't they??
Every year I see all these glorious DD albums on everybody's blogs.. And this year I am on Pinterest and Instagram...( ooh sweet and adorable iphone 5 of mine..) and they are everywhere.. Hanging out at Studio Calico only makes it worse - it's a huge thing over there and they are running this awesome 25 Days class with Maggie Holmes...Oh sigh..At this late date...What is a scrappy girl to do??

Dive in with both hands..paper and sequins of course!
This is my cover..I am planning on adding sequins and some gorgeous glittery thread that I bought today..Getting into the groove as I go along...
Being late to the DD party..I am not participating in Maggie's class and obviously haven't purchased the kit - so I making it up as I go along..I made my blank pages, (some big and some smaller) and cover... And away I went..

My inside cover and facing page...That's real confetti mod podged on...I had all of the crate sleigh ride range so I am basing it around that colour scheme and adding bits as I go.. Keeping all my bits and pieces together..So I can get them out every day...

first page..I have a new iphone - as I already mentioned... so I am using that to take LOTS of photos and getting them printed..Anything to simplify the process...

Second page..Still about the tree..and still my iphone photos..
Being crazy busy - and not able to print photos from each day..I am detailing traditions and little moments throughout Dec important to us...
To give myself an advantage on the night we set up the tree I took LOADS of shots and of little details on my DSLR and iphone, that I knew I could use throughout Dec..
There should actually be a little extra page in the middle here of the girls little handmade decorations -but I didn't have the photos printed yet..will add it later..

More pages to come..
I am finding by doing this I feel more inspired to be festive??
You know sometimes you get kinda blah about Dec??
DD is dragging the Santa out me!
Ye ha!!

pretty paints:

I saw this technique on a couple of blogs and I also pinned it on Pinterest.. Thought before the silly season completely swallowed me whole - I might have a go at it... Naturally I scrapped this over a week ago and I am only just getting around to posting it now:

I just used the eraser end of a greylead pencil in my coloured ink pads?? My dots got uniformed as I went along.. So simple.. Might do a boy version next...

Stay tuned for my version of December Daily..

She and the Murphy Men:

My gorgeous bestie went and had her second son only hours after we had finished our quite enjoyable visit with them just over a week ago..So it was with much happiness that we ALL trekked back down to meet this sweet little fellow:

And just a few out takes to show you how gorgeous my own kids are - Look at them helping me pose and arrange sweet 'baby jam' - and how much they adore this new little friend - and his big brother:
